What balayage is

Colour with a little more intention.

Balayage is colour painted onto the hair by hand, placed where light would naturally fall. Because it isn't applied in a set pattern, the result is softer than foils and grows out without a hard line.

The shade we reach depends on your starting colour and the condition of your hair. That's why every balayage here begins with a conversation at the chair — bring photos of looks you like, and we'll tell you what's realistic in one visit and what takes two.

Browse the three directions

Look options

Which direction feels like you?

Three places most balayage conversations start. Save the one that's closest and we'll adjust the tone to your skin and your base colour.

Long hair with brighter beige balayage

01

Brighter beige

Cool, sandy light through the lengths and ends. Best on a light-brown or dark-blonde base.

Long hair with warm caramel balayage

02

Warm caramel

Golden ribbons that catch the light. The lowest-maintenance of the three on brunette hair.

Rich brunette hair with subtle dimension

03

Rich brunette

Depth at the root, a quiet lift at the ends. For hair that should look expensive, not lighter.

Your consultation

Come with an idea. Leave with a plan.

Fifteen minutes at the chair before any colour goes on.

01

Your starting point

Your natural base, any colour already on the hair, and how it has been treated in the last year.

02

Your colour goal

The photos you've saved, how light you want to go, and whether that's one visit or a journey.

03

Your upkeep

How often you'd like to come back, and the toner and home care that keep it looking fresh between visits.

Questions

A few things to ask.

Should I bring reference photos?

Yes, please. Two or three photos tell us more than a description can. Include one of your own hair in daylight if you've had colour elsewhere.

Will the look in my photo work on my hair?

Usually a version of it will. Your base colour, previous colour and hair condition set how light we can go in one sitting. We'll tell you plainly what's possible today and what needs a second visit.

How much does balayage cost?

Ombré / balayage is R3,000 on our current price list. Toner and treatments are confirmed with you at the chair before we start.

How long does it take, and how often will I be back?

Set aside around three hours. Most clients refresh their balayage every three to four months, with a toner in between if they want it brighter.
